Together Threads

Our Health Coach Stephanie and Health Improvement Practitioner Rozanne recently kicked off a new community group, ‘Together Threads’.  They would like to invite you to come along and immerse yourself in these weekly sessions which focus on boosting health and well-being over tea, coffee and healthy morning treats.

Where: At the hall of the St John Ambulance building, 5 Belgium Street, Ostend, Waiheke (next to the Waiheke Health Trust). Google map

When: Wednesdays from 10 – 11am

Who: Rozanne or Stephanie on 09 372 5005 if you have any questions

Let’s weave togetherness and wellness, one thread at a time.

If you haven’t heard of our Health Coach and Health Improvement Practitioner, this free service is provided by Ostend Medical in collaboration with Fresh Minds by ProCare.  Our practitioners can provide support to improve your health and wellbeing, especially if you feel like there are obstacles getting in the way of this or you feel stuck.

If you are dealing with challenges such as managing difficult thoughts or feelings, sleep difficulties, persistent pain, chronic illness or long-term conditions or would like support around lifestyle changes or children’s/teenager’s behavioural issues you can ask your doctor or nurse for an appointment with Rozanne or Stephanie.

This is not counselling or psychotherapy. Health Improvement sessions are about developing a plan that you can start using straight away to improve wellbeing.  Most people get what they need in one session, but people are welcome to multiple sessions and all services are free!

Call us on 09 372 5005 or ask your GP or nurse about the service.

Winter Wellness Gathering

Waiheke Health Trust and Ostend Medical Centre were thrilled to host well over 50 of our Waiheke Island health professionals at a Winter Wellness Gathering in August.  SimplyB – Wellbeing for LIFE’s Mel Burdett provided us with great, simple ideas for boosting our physical and emotional wellbeing during the winter months and Casita Miro Restaurant, Countdown Supermarkets and Abundance Kombucha kept us happy and nourished.

At the gathering we asked the providers, ‘If money wasn’t an object, what would healthcare on the island look like to you?’  They had such great ideas about collaboration, needed equipment and working together in a single, fit for purpose space that we were inspired to pose the same question to the community on social media.

We were blown away by the huge number of thoughtful, passionate responses we received, many of which focused on the need for additional services for mental health, aged care and birthing services.  Both our health professionals and community members asked for ultrasound services, something that Waiheke Health Trust is fundraising hard for, so if you know anyone who would like to support our efforts, please be in touch!

We Are Recruiting!

Do you or someone you know want to join our busy clinic and warm, professional team at the heart of the Waiheke community?  We’re seeking a GP and a Nurse Practitioner and can be flexible about schedules to ensure a positive work/life balance for you and your whānau. If you would like to know more, please email [email protected].

Early Morning Virtual Appointments and Welcome Back to Zoe

Convenient health care – early morning virtual appointments are now available with Dr Zoe Douglass.

“I love the convenience of online appointments. I can see my GP in between the kids’ breakfast and getting ready for work and know that I’m taking care of my health”.  OMC patient, D.

And we’re thrilled to report that Dr Zoe Douglass will be back with us in Aotearoa during the busy summer period so you will be able to book in person with her from the end of December to early March.

Fees for Enrolled Patients

At Ostend Medical Centre, we pride ourselves on providing the highest quality, individualised medical care possible for our Waiheke community.  As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain the excellence of our facilities and services, we had to increase some of the fees for our enrolled patients at the beginning of August.

The new fee structure reflects the rising costs associated with medical supplies, equipment and personnel, which are essential for delivering the highest standard of healthcare to our patients.

After Hours

ALWAYS CALL 111 FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

We are open Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm. If you need to speak with a nurse or doctor before the centre re-opens phone: 372 3111 for the after hours service.
